Indonesian

Last week we had Bu Devathas and several former Marlborough PS students from Heathmont College come to address our Grade 5 and 6 students about the benefits of studying a language at secondary school. Our students enjoyed playing “Angklung”, watching a “wayang kulit” puppet show and playing games run by the Heathmont College students. We are very fortunate to have a great partnership with Heathmont College which ensures a smooth transition for our students.

Next term, our students have the opportunity to enter “Sayembara Lisan”, a state- wide Indonesian speaking competition. We have been very successful over the past few years with a number of our students making it to state finals.

Interested students will be given the material to take home over the holidays. The first round will be in Week 5 of Term 2. Bu Devathas, from Heathmont College will assess our students for the eastern region.

Selamat Paskah- wishing everyone a wonderful Easter holidays.

Terima kasih,

(Bu) Mary-Ellen Dowling
