An update from our Stage Coordinators
Update from the Stage 4 Coordinators
As the term ends, it is gratifying to look back on the positive and fruitful beginning of the school year. We have successfully introduced and completed a range of programs and initiatives that have enriched our students’ learning. These include our Year 7 Retreats, Year 7 NAPLAN, and Open Parachute for Year 8.
For Year 7, the Retreats are an important component of their formation and offers students a chance to develop their understanding of Spirituality of the Heart and reflect on their lives while, at the same time, deepening their friendships within their year group.
Meanwhile, the Open Parachute Program for Year 8 is a wellbeing program designed to empower students with practical skills and strategies. For students, the program aims to minimise stigma and foster conversations with students about the genuine challenges they may encounter.
“Open Parachute has taught us to care more for people and to be more aware of bullying and strategies to help oneself and others.”
Auguste C (Year 8).
Overall, it has been a successful term for both Year 7 and Year 8, and we are proud of the progress that our students have made. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the academic year holds for them. Thank you for your continued support, and we wish you a happy and safe break.

Update from The Stage 5 Coordinators
Year 10 Open Parachute Wellbeing Program
This term, Year 10 students have been participating in the Open Parachute Program, which has been established by the Guy Sebastian Foundation. The program has been designed by a team of Clinical Psychologists and educators and is being facilitated by the staff here at the college. Throughout the lessons, students continue to develop mental health skills so that they can thrive in all areas of their lives. This term, the focus has been on the unit ‘Adversity and Resilience’. The students have had opportunities to develop skills in understanding anxiety, analysing personal strengths, reflecting on their own values, standing up to peers and analysing resilience and grit.
‘The program so far has given Year 10 students an opportunity to discuss, collaborate and reflect on issues relating to adversity and some of the struggles often associated with being a teenager. We have been able to further develop our skills of problem solving and dealing with anxiety’. Grace D (Yr 10)
‘The program has been a useful source in understanding some of the issues associated with adolescents dealing with adversity. We have also been able to explore strategies to deal with situations. The program has helped Year 10 students to further develop our values as young people in today’s world.’ Theo A (Yr 10)
‘I have really enjoyed the videos that are shown, and the role play activities. These have helped us to understand the content and issues that we are discussing’. Ella L (Yr 10)
‘It has been great to be able to have open discussions on the topics that we are exploring in the program.’ Jess W (Yr 10)

Update from The Stage 6 Coordinators
Year 11
The Jersey Committee have been hard at work developing a design for the Class of 2024. To date, four designs have been shortlisted and the Year 11 cohort will soon vote on their preferred one. The Buddy Leadership Program was brought to a close for Term 1 on Tuesday this week, with an Easter Egg Hunt and a special morning tea provided by the Year 7 students. We would like to thank the Year 11 Buddy Leaders for their ongoing commitment to the program and for the excellent mentoring they have provided for the new Year 7’s.
Year 12
The recent assembly that was organised and facilitated by the Year 12 leaders was an enormous success, with presentations from the different leadership portfolios. There were presentations on the upcoming College musical, Beautiful – The Carol King Story, an introduction to the exciting Instagram giveaway competition for Chev_Today and a special Agriculture report, just to name a few. These student led assemblies will be an ongoing welcome addition to the school timetable, and we look forward to seeing more of the skills and talent of this amazing group.
