Term 1 at Kempsey High School Library

Term 1 in the KHS library has been an exciting time! Along with all our usual reading, teaching, and learning activities, we also took delivery of many great new books and celebrated some important dates.

In February, we observed St Valentine’s Day with ‘Blind date with a Book’ – Students chose a plainly covered book with one or two hints about its content on the wrapping. This led to some beautiful love stories…and some quick returns! We also made felt roses during lunchtime craft and students created some gorgeous blossoms.

For International Women’s Day, we hosted a colouring competition focused on amazing women…which is a wonderful way to describe our winners! All submissions were fantastic, and it was extremely difficult to narrow it down for prize-giving. Thank you to all who participated!

Brain Teaser: What is a car's favourite genre? See if you can guess!

The library will be temporarily relocating while our space here is refurbished. We will still be running lunchtime sessions, and these will continue to expand. Next term we hope to add a Young Writers club and a Coding club to our current repertoire.

All students in Years 7-12 should have received a membership application form for Kempsey Library. During the refurbishment, we will be making regular visits to the library at West Kempsey, so it is important that your young person become a member. The library offers more than lending opportunities with access to eResources and a range of free events including workshops and activities for Youth Week in April such as Paint & Sip and Late Night at the Library (gaming, movies, pizza). You can learn more at https://library.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/Home

Please remember to sign the membership application form if you child is under the age of sixteen and return the form to the school library.

Have a wonderful and well-read holiday!

Kindest, Ms. Summers & Ms. Williams
