The Sports Report

Athletics Carnival

The Athletics Carnival was a huge success this year! With numerous dominant competitors across all age groups, and an overflow of house support, we had an amazing day. There was a lot to celebrate that day, the most notable being a new record set by Wellbeing Captain Alina Ivanova (Year 12) in the 17 and under 200m sprint – this was the first record set since 2006!

Along with the main events, there were many novelties to participate in, such as the potato sack race, egg and spoon race, longest footy kick, tug of war and student vs teacher relay, not to mention the massive turnout in the speed walking competition. There were also many other activities such as face painting which was enjoyed by many.

Hundreds of people dressed up in their house colours or 90’s outfits – from the spice girls to the Powerpuff girls, toy story to the matrix, school spirit was high! Students were eager to chant and cheer for their house, earning as many house points as they could before the day was out.

Congratulations to those who competed and dressed up and good luck to those continuing on to Division! We look forward to the next whole school event on the calendar.

Congratulations Zeina!

Zeina Abbass from year 9 has been smashing goals this past month, achieving a national time for swimming! Zeina will be travelling to Queensland next week to compete at the national age championships, where she will be racing some of Australia’s best swimmers. We all wish her the best of luck!
