Attendance

Please remember to record all days that your child/ren are absent from school. This can be done by:

• Compass - add an attendance note 
• Calling the office on 53413560
• Emailing the school at buninyong.ps@education.vic.gov.au 

Schools are required to have a reason for student absences. Any time your student is away from school it must be explained and recorded. Please see below for more information. 

Compass

Our weekly focus on Compass is attendance. Your parent Compass portal allows you to enter absence data for your child should they be away from school. 

While there is an expectation that all students should attend school every day, there are going to be times where illness or an unavoidable appointment gets in the way. Our school data from 2022 indicates we have a very high level of unexplained absences (almost 25% of absences remain unexplained). The Compass attendance function will allow us to bring this number down.

There are a couple of ways to use the Compass portal to record and check your child’s attendance at school. If there ever is a concern, please just contact the school office who will be very happy to help.
