Congratulations District Aths Team:

Congratulations to the 49 students who represented Buninyong Primary School at the District Athletics last Thursday.  We had the biggest squad we've had attend for a number of years and they all represented themselves and the school fantastically (on and off the track).  We are all so very proud of each and every one of them.

Despite the weather, we all kicked on with our events but unfortunately, due to safety concerns, the 9/10 and 11 year old high jump did not take place. We are in the process of organising an alternative time to run this (probably early next term).  I will keep the relevant families up to speed when I have more information.  As a result of these events not being completed, the overall school results wont be known.  Stay tuned!!

A big thank you to Ms Probert, Mr Oellering, Mr Bond and Kelly for their assistance with the team and running long jump.  Thank you to all the supporters who managed to come down and support our team at some point during the day. A special mention to the students who happily stepped up for events on the day when we had an injury upon us.

Congratulations Cross Country Runners:

What a day we had for our Cross Country today!  With blue, white, yellow and green attire flashing across our 1km, 2km and 3km courses, it is very difficult at this stage to even guess which team has won!

A big well done to all our runners! You were all amazing! Every person past the finish line won points for their house and we are all proud of you.

A special shout out goes to:

  • Our Grade 6 Sports Leaders for running the events fantastically.  Every person had a job, did it well and even stepped in to help others when possible.  There were also a few non-sports leaders who helped out along the way.  Thank you to you all!
  • Our photography team for taking some great shots.
  • SEDA for their ongoing support.  Without you it would not be possible to run these events.  We are continually grateful for all your amazing help and leadership!
  • Our spectators who were out in force today.  Nothing like some sunshine and a run through Buninyong surrounds to bring us together. Thank you to everyone who made it and cheered our runners along.
  • Last, but certainly not least, all our school staff who happily disrupt their day to support our students in participating in extra curricular events such as these.  A lot of work went on behind the scenes which often goes unnoticed but most definitely appreciated.  Thank you to all involved.

We are hoping to announce our winning house at this Thursday’s assembly.  I will also be contacting those who have made it through to District Cross Country early in Term 2.
