Creativity takes courage. Henri Matisse

Hello RHPS Artists,

I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and were able to be creative in some way.

Term 2 is set to be another busy, messy and fun term in the art room.

Our junior artists from Prep- Grade 2 will be creating an array of farmyard inspired pieces, which will be shared at a special Performing Arts event at the end of term (more details to come). They will be using their imaginations to draw, paint and develop their modelling skills and gain a greater understanding of line, shape, colour and form. Clay will be introduced to the prep’s and the Grade 1/2’s will continue to grow their skills.

So far, the Preps have been drawing and painting pigs and learning about value to create a tint of red, PINK! They have done a fabulous job!

The Grade 1/2s have drawn gorgeous cows and these are now ready to paint next week using a variety of colours and exploring with a range of tints.

Our senior artists have a big term ahead. The Grade 5/6s are finishing off term 1 projects and also contributing to the farmyard vibe to create animal selfies for their buddies. They will then delve into a few weeks of sewing, as we learn to use patterns, thread needles and do a simple running stitch.

The Grade 3/4 students will also be developing their sewing skills, as we have begun a unit with Fairy Penguins as our inspiration. We will be learning about these wonderful creatures as we create both 2D and 3D artwork, with the hope of using our artwork to encourage others to look after our oceans and keep the rubbish in the bin.

Overall, we have a great term ahead and we cannot wait to share our artist skills and imagination with you!

Keep Creating,

Mrs. Granger
