Today is a great day to be you!

Harmony Day

Earlier this week on Monday, we celebrated Harmony Day at Rangeview! This is always a very special occasion as we have such a multicultural community - something we really love at our fantastic school.

It is so important that from an early age, children learn that regardless of someone's culture, background or nationality, they deserve to be treated equally. All people deserve fairness, acceptance and understanding - and events such as Harmony Day help us create a learning environment that really instils these values.

We began our Harmony Day by creating a giant Yin Yang symbol on the oval - the Yin Yang represents harmony and balance, two things we love to see at a primary school! Coordinating 690 students and 50 staff to form a giant shape is always a fun challenge, but I am pleased to say the end result was something we can be proud of! The drone video has been shared via our school Facebook page, but you can also find it at this link here if you would like to view it again or share it!

Our 2022 and 2023 efforts!

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Lejoe Kuriakose for generously giving up his time, not only in the morning to film using his drone, but also for taking the time to edit together the footage and create the video of our Yin Yang efforts!

From the oval, our students moved straight to the whole school assembly, where our Peer Mediators did a sensational job running the show! Our choirs performed some beautiful songs about inclusiveness, and we heard some speeches and a poem about what Harmony Day means.

Our students then participated in 'The Big Munch' - this was an incredible event and such a unique celebration of our diversity! The amount of food on offer - from all different areas of the world - was a sight to behold. It was great to see students trying new things and becoming more adventurous with their choices - and I will personally say I definitely enjoyed sampling some delicious foods that I am not usually exposed to.

Buddy Grade activities took over in the middle of the day - it is always a joy to see the younger and older students pair up to work on tasks together. Then finally to end the day, the wonderful diversity at our school was further celebrated through the Bollywood dance session, run by another parent of our school, Palak Parikh. We would like to extend another huge thank you to Palak for this high-energy performance and dance tutorial - our students (and staff!) absolutely loved it and it was so great to see everyone get involved. You can find further information about Palak's company, NB Dance, on the Community/Advertising Page further into the newsletter.

What a day!

Cupcake Day

The Gallery was full of colour and sugar this morning - and our students loved it! Snacking on a little treat was a rewarding and fun way for our students to end the first term.

Thank you to Parents & Friends, in particular our  Year 1 parents, who put the time and effort into organising and running this fundraiser for our school.

National Ride2School Day

A couple of weeks ago, you might remember that we participated in Ride2School Day. It was wonderful to see so many students take the opportunity to get a bit more physically active and ride their bikes - in the process, also reducing the amount of cars on the road and traffic around the school.

We have just received the amazing news that our school was a winner of a major prize! Bicycle Network, who deliver the Ride2School program nationwide, contacted us to let us know we have won ten brand new bikes (and helmets)! These bikes will be put to good use supporting our Bike Ed programs across the coming years. We are very grateful to be the recipients of this prize - well done to all of the students who rode to school!

In related news, next term we will be looking to run another Walk or Wheels program to encourage alternate transport to school other than driving - keep an eye on the newsletter for more info about this program! Our classes are very excited to once again compete for the Golden Boots.

Student Leadership

Across the first term, our 2023 student leadership team has thrived! All 33 student leaders have performed their roles to the best of their abilities and I have been so impressed with their initiative and willingness to take onboard new challenges, whilst setting the perfect example for our younger students.

Our Leading Teacher, Tania Balderston, attended the annual GRIP Leadership Conference with our School Captains (Emily and Joel) and Voice Captains (Josephine and Archie) last week, and I had the privilege yesterday of attending the annual Legacy ANZAC Day Student Commemoration Service at the Shrine with the same students. Our student leaders did a wonderful job representing the school and should be very proud of their conduct at both events.

If you would like to learn a little bit more about our wonderful student leaders, there is a display board in the main office/foyer area - all of our leaders have created a profile page.

School Holidays

Congratulations to all of our students for a successful first term of 2023. We'd also like to extend this congratulations to our wider school community - we always appreciate your support and we have loved your involvement in our school events this term!

We hope you all have a restful and safe break over the school holidays, enjoy some additional time with your families, and we will look forward to seeing everyone back onsite on April 24th.
