The two of Us-Laura & Herro

No, it's your turn to do the dishes

An enduring relationship, the king and queen of CPFNC

Not many people have had such a large and simultaneous impact on both playing areas of the club. But how could this be? Felix Ungar and Oscar Madison have nothing on these two.

Laura

You’d be shocked to learn that when I met Luke at a friends 21st birthday, I thought he was annoying AF. He didn’t stop talking and not a lot has changed in 13 years. Although he rarely shuts up, somehow, we get on most of the time. Go figure. Maybe the fact Tim Beech gave our union his blessing by sprinkling Ouzo over us after ‘Luke made it official’ at the Cruze Club one Saturday night played a big part.

After a year or so at the age of about 20, I moved to sunny Crib Point from Mornington where I had lived all my life. I really didn’t know a lot about Crib Point, other than the club. I have honestly loved living in Crib Point; such as strong sense of community. One of the best things to have come about as a result of being with Mr Crib Point is being involved with the CPFNC. What a club! I didn’t think I could be involved with another club after being involved with the Mornington Football Club for such a long time. My Dad is a life member at Mornington, so I really considered it to be my home. How wrong I was. CPFNC is home for me and my family, for life. What a group of honest, hardworking, lovely people in one place. I must thank Bianca Field for giving me a ring one day to have a run around in the black and white on the netball court. I was there watching Luke play footy anyway, so thought I may as well play as well. I could never have imagined that I’d be involved for so long or be so actively involved off the court also.

I have formed so many lifelong friendships through the footy and cricket clubs. Friendships that have been there through the most important times of our lives. Our engagement party was held in the rooms (pre-renovation and winded up at sunrise) and our wedding was like a CPFNC function at a fancier joint. You know you have a good group of people around you when the manager of the wedding function place asks us to not recommend them to any of our footy/cricket club friends – we drank them out of alcohol and they were not happy about it!

Now we have the next generation, our sons, Ollie and Kai watching us from the side lines which fills us with such a strong sense of joy and pride. We just love how our CPFNC family love our kids the way that they do. We all look forward to our Saturday’s at the footy, but no one more than Ollie Herrington. Thanks to everyone who supplies our kid with lollies, chippies and special drink!

You have no doubt seen us both at our best and at our worst (plenty of beverages in). Thanks for having us, you probably won’t be getting rid of us anytime soon.

Luke - abridged version

I was at Jack's bar. I'd had too much to drink and I tried to crack onto her. She drove me home and I tried to kiss her and that's it...here I am.

Luke - arm twisted version

It was a friend of mines 21st at Jacks Bar which is also known as Canadian Bay Hotel in Mt Eliza. We were introduced through a mutual friend that was at the party. I was hammered cause I was and still am a drunk!!

Laura I think had netball or something the next day so she was driving. She gave me a lift home back to where I was living at the time (Hastings) with Ben Dunkley. I asked her for a kiss on the lounge room which I received! How could you possibly say no to someone with as much body hair as I have!!!! I think her pet name for me was Chewbacca for a while.

From then we saw each other a few more times and after a blessing of ouzo and raspberry from the great man Beechy, we were officially together some months later (about 6)

I brought a house about 10 months after that she moved in and from there it’s pretty simple.  Marriage, kids and now building our dream home together.

Mate, can you add some mayo to this to make it a worthwhile story?
