Wellington Schools Inter- School Clay Target Shoot, 2019.

On Monday the 21st of October this year’s Wellington Schools Clay Target Competition took place. The event, held at the Sale Field and Game Shooting Club Range at Longford, was open to secondary students from across the Wellington Shire.

On the day over 70 students competed in Junior; (under 15), and Senior; (over 15 year old), divisions. The competition also included male and female divisions within both age groups. Our college had 7 students competing on a bright sunny day at the range; Alex Williamson (acting Team Captain), Max Hague, Malyck Duck, Jack MacManus, Ethan Rogers, Madi Shingles and Emma Paulet.

The competition was in 3 rounds over the day. Shooters had to complete 2 rounds of 10 targets each on the ‘Simulated field’ course and 1 round of ‘Down the Line’ range, consisting of 5 targets each; a total of 25 targets each per shooter.

The competition standard was very high on the day with numerus competitors scoring in the high 20’s. Our College Team of Jack, Alex, Max, Malyck and Ethan were squad 2 out of 12 in the competition, with Madi and Emma making up the numbers of a mixed schools group and shooting as squad 7.

On the Day the boy’s team results placed them in 5th at the end of the competition.

Individually, our best shooter on the day was Max Hague who scored 22 form 25 targets and gave him the second highest score overall in the competition and the Second place trophy for the Senior Boys division. Max also achieved a perfect 10 out of 10 for his second round on the Simulated Field course.

Overall, all of our students achieved commendable scores; Malyck 20 / 25, Jack 18 / 25, Emma 15/ 25, Alex 13 / 25, Ethan and Madi 11 / 25.

We would like to thank Sale Field & Game and H & S Firearms for an excellent competition and their continued support of the Wellington Schools students.
