Mini Melbourne Minecraft

The media came into SU1 today to see what we have been doing in Mini Melbourne Minecraft. WIN News interviewed students about why they like learning in Minecraft and in particular, why learning in Mini Melbourne has its benefits. Photographers took photos of the students while they worked together in the world and our local member, Mary-Anne Thomas chatted to students to see what they love about Minecraft. Be sure to keep your eye out on WIN News to see our superstars shine.

Senior Unit Travel Expo

Wow. We were absolutely blown away by the Year 5/6 students as they held their annual learning showcase at their Travel Expo on Friday the 13th of September. The children were given the challenge of creating their own ideal fictional country and needed to include all the features of an actual country such as flag, capital cities, maps and even native languages. Children dressed in their country’s colours or native dress and stood proudly at their stall to answer any questions that the curious visitors had. Some children even went to the effort of creating a native dish and provided samples for everyone to try.

The Travel Expo was officially opened by a group of students who spoke in their country’s native language which was then translated into English to the audience. The ribbon was then cut and visitors then wandered through the venue asking questions to the children. The Year 5/6 students stretched their imaginations to create their ideal country and showed what an ideal world would be like through the eyes of children. The day saw over 500 people visit the Travel Expo and they left impressed with the creativity, dedication and enthusiasm the students displayed. Thank you so much to everyone who attended. We cannot wait until our next showcase.
