Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

We hope all of our Mothers, Grandma’s and special people who look after our children had some time to rest, reflect on how important they are and were ok in this very different Mother's Day with COVID -19 and above all that their children didn’t do some unusual things like those seen in the video above.

Thank you to Anne- Marie Houlihan, Joel Haesler, Tayah Carr and any other staff who contributed to our Mothers Day reflections and activities.  Thank you also to Matt De Marte for all of the wonderful meals he is cooking at the moment to ensure there is support for all of our community who may need a helping hand.

This is our faith in action- working for the common good, standing in solidarity together and looking after each other whilst always respecting the dignity of every person in our community.

Catholic Care Family week is coming up next week and the theme is ‘Building Connections in the Spirit of Hope’, and reflects our focus on supporting and strengthening individuals, families and communities.

Our focus for this week's faith and wellbeing  is belonging.

Being loved and feeling a sense of belonging are amongst our human basic needs. Maslow's hierarchy of needs below demonstrates the psychology behind why it is important that in our Catholic schools we always strive to ensure we connect and build a sense of belonging in our families.

Love and Belonging needs are imperative for psychological safety and wellbeing.

Friendship, family, sense of connection etc are all basic needs of the human being.

Abraham Maslow's theory argues that humans have a series of needs and that the failure to have needs met at various stages of the hierarchy could lead to illness and mental health issues.

As we focus on belonging this week in our prayers may we particularly think of those who maybe  struggling in these COVID times to feel that sense of love and belonging. Check in on your children, check in on your families and above all check in on yourself.

If you see any signs of distress or people feeling disconnected then put in action some steps or support to help all of our community feel a sense of belonging.

There is always something that can be done to ensure every person feels a sense of love and belonging- thinking possibilities means being optimistic, taking responsibilities for ourselves and our lives as ultimately we are the only ones who can ensure we flourish in life. If you are struggling then please reach out and let someone know- there is always a helping hand to assist you to get yourself in the zone of thriving.

It is ok to not be okay!  So let us know if you are not able to shine due to not being OK- we are here for you always and appreciate all you are doing to support your children in their remote learning .

Yours in Partnership

A Mother's Love

There are times when only a mother's love

Can understand our tears,

Can soothe our disappoints

And calm all of our fears.

There are times when only a mother's love

Can share the joy we feel

When something we've dreamed about

Quite suddenly is real.

There are times when only a mother's faith

Can help us on life's way

And inspire in us the confidence

We need from day to day.

For a mother's heart and a mother's faith

And a mother's steadfast love

Were fashioned by the angels

And sent from God above.
