Meet the Specialist Team 

STEAM

I am an enthusiastic teacher who is motivated to help children learn and achieve positive outcomes. I am also just as interested in seeing a child develop into a better person with a high self-esteem who is in a better position to problem solve, think critically, make informed life decisions and make a positive contribution to the community. My hobbies include sports, music, photography, cooking and playing with my cat, Popcorn. I love working at SMPS and am excited for the 2020 school year!

Music

Hi awesome SMPS students, I am Mr. Paul. I am the South Melbourne Primary School Music Teacher. This will be my third year at SMPS. I started teaching at our school when it first opened at the beginning of 2018. It has been amazing to see our school grow so quickly into the great place that it is. I have really enjoyed teaching so many fantastic kids and working with an excellent group of teachers at South Melbourne Primary School. I have a lot of passion for building a strong sense of community in schools. I hope to continue to engage mums, dads and family members in the music program. I look forward to seeing what 2020 brings for our school!

Mandarin  

Hi, I’m Lucy. I graduated from Monash University, majoring in teaching early years and primary school students. I’m a passionate Mandarin teacher, bringing the Chinese culture to both first language learners as well as students who may speak Chinese at home. I believe in engaging students in a dynamic classroom environment, teaching Mandarin by promoting and encouraging our students to be confident and active learners. Outside of school time, I enjoy reading history books and watching movies. I am very excited to continue at South Melbourne Primary School and meet all the families and community members in 2020.

P.E

Hi, I’m Callum and I’m incredibly excited for 2020 here at SMPS! I’m from the UK and have been teaching for 5 years now. I have been here since the end of the first year of SMPS and it somehow keeps getting better and better. I love playing soccer (football) and basketball and can’t wait for the Olympics. I used to teach Maths in high school but I’ve enjoyed the change. I also enjoy camping and trying new food. This year is going to be the best!

Mixed Specialist Roles: 

Hi, my name is Hope. It has been great getting to know the South Melbourne Primary School community during Term 4, and I am excited to continue sharing my passion for Specialist with everyone in 2020. For the past 5 years I have been an educator at the leading technology company Apple where I have been able to explore my interest for digital art and coding. During my downtime you can find me at a local cafe with my dog Athena indulging in delicious food or at the gym completing a rigorous workout where I develop my martial arts skills. My aim for this coming year at SMPS is to create a fun and inviting classroom where everyone is welcome to learn and explore!

Hi, I’m Miss Cass and I am very excited to be returning to South Melbourne Primary next year! I have been teaching for nearly 2 years now and have taught at a wide range of schools across Melbourne. I love my job, and could not imagine life without it! Prior to embarking on my teaching journey, I lived in the United States as I was lucky enough to be offered an athletics scholarship for cross country and track running. Outside of school I love to run, spend time at the beach, cook, and relax with my cat, Okie. I am very excited for the 2020 school year as I know it will be another amazing one at SMPS.
