From the Principal...

Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School

Do all that you do with love, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux

Today all students celebrated the beginning of the year Mass at St Agatha's Church in Cranbourne. It was lovely to visit our sister school and spend time in the church. If you managed to come along, you will have heard our new school prayer. Last year, it came to our attention that our school prayer was the prayer of Saint Teresa of Avila and not Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. Thanks to Mrs Hinds for her work on the creation of our new prayer that speaks of the charism of our patron saint and reminds us to always 'do all that you do with love'.

Information Evening & Meet the Teacher Workshop

Don't forget that tonight, Tuesday 11th February, at 6:30pm we will have a Foundation to Year Six Information Session in the Hall. Parents and their children are invited to come along to hear how learning takes place at St Therese's primary school.

After the Information Session, we encourage you to visit your child's classroom to meet their teacher. Teachers will be available to answer questions specifically in relation to the individual learning level. We hope to see as many families as possible.

Traffic Management around the school

The beginning of the school year is full of new experiences and changes. This is particularly true for parents who are new to the school. One of the greatest challenges can be navigating the drop off and pick up times around the school. It is essential that all parents who are driving and parking around the school do so carefully and safely. It would be an absolute tragedy of one of our students were to be injured due to impatience or carelessness. Please follow the road rules at all times.

  • There is a limit of 40kpm around the school at all times.
  • Cars parking on Endeavour Drive must do so in the parking area only and not on the grass or across a driveway. Double parking is against the Victorian road laws and strict penalties apply.
  • Please move your car up so that there is not excessive space between cars. This can be very frustrating for parents who are trying to parallel park but find they do not have enough space.
  • If there is not enough space, try parking in Mitchell Court and using the side gate or drive around the block and come back.
  • Please be mindful of the pedestrian crossing and do not park in the no parking spaces around it.

Parking inspectors to frequent the area and have issued on the spot fines for illegal parking. What is important is the safety of all children. Thank you for your understanding and patience!

Volunteering at St Therese's

As a parent, there are many ways in which you can be involved in your child's schooling. One way is to volunteer at the school to assist with classroom activities, excursions, or fundraising events, or canteen. In order to comply with our Child Safe standards, parents are asked to attend a Volunteer Induction Workshop where they will be inducted into child safe practices. Parents need to complete this every second year. So, if you haven't completed an induction in 2019 and are thinking about volunteering at the school please come along to one of the Volunteer Induction Sessions.

  • Wednesday 19th February at 3:00pm
  • Thursday 20th February at 9:00am

Straight after the Thursday session at 9:45am there will be a meeting for parents who are interested in Term 1 fundraising events that include the Easter Raffle. Please consider coming along to help with this very popular event!  We hope to see you there.

I hope that all have a lovely week and I look forward to seeing you at the Information Evening tonight!

Yours in Christ,

Michelle Bruitzman
