Webber House News

As Term 4 is off to a flying start, I would to take this opportunity to congratulate Angus Gooden and Kira Manning on their successful appointment to the role of Webber House Captains. They did a fantastic job during our Year 12 Assembly at the end of last term, receiving the Webber House Banner from outgoing Captains Julia Adamcewicz and Frances Kamara. This significant moment in their leadership journey marks the point where traditions are shared and new opportunities are created. Angus and Kira have happily shared their biographies to give our community some insight into their background and inspiration for leadership.

Mrs Amelia Bright

Webber House Leader

Hi all, my name is Angus Gooden and I am the newly elected Webber House Captain, my favourite subjects at Mater Dei are Biology, Maths and Business Studies. My outside of School interests mainly consist of fishing and camping. I was born and have always lived in Wagga and I am one of 4 children with 3 older sisters. When I leave school I would like to undertake a Business Studies course or do Veterinary Science. After school I would like to take a gap year and travel around Australia then go to University. I plan to lead Webber in 2016 by engaging the whole House group together as one and build upon the foundation which was built by our previous captains. As Sister Barbara is my Godmother, she has always been a part of my life, constantly inspiring me to come to the service of others offering social justice, along with always being a constant example of how to treat others in the wider community.

Hey! My name is Kira Manning and I am currently starting Year 12 here at Mater Dei. I love all of the subjects I am studying, but, if I had to pick a favourite it would probably be English or Modern History. When School finishes I would love to pursue my interest in the Performing Arts or work with individuals with disabilities in the community, which is something very special and personal for me. The patron of Webber House, Sister Barbara Webber has led me to have a keen interest in social justice and to engage in the service of others, leading me to attend the Melbourne Street Retreat which was a life changing experience for me. As a leader of Webber House I aspire to create an inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of  their differences or needs. I look forward to having a fantastic year with my Year 12 cohort and the rest of Webber House!
