Student Wellbeing for Engaging Literate Learners

GGSS kids are kind.

Positive Behaviour for Learning Lessons

Our beautiful school is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. We are committed to providing a safe, respectful and disciplined learning environment for students and staff, where students have the opportunities to engage in quality learning and acquire values supportive of their lifelong wellbeing. We accomplish this is a number of ways:

Our Behaviour Matrix: Behaviour expectations in specific settings are linked to our three school rules. The Matrix indicated the rules and specific behaviours expected in theses school settings. We set and form 2 weekly PBL skills that align with our school expectations. On Monday assemblies, the 2 PBL skills are explicitly taught and modelled, and then reviewed in classrooms. Videos are shared on our YouTube channel and on FaceBook for families to support appropriate behaviour at school. Students are expected to practice the PBL focus and are rewarded for successfully displaying the skill.

Week 3 - Focus: All expectations - Transitions, classroom and playground expectations and structures taught.

Week 4 - Focus: Be Safe - Walk in and around buildings.

Week 5 - Focus: Be Responsible - Following directions and Be in the right place at the right time.

Week 6 - Focus: Be Safe - Ask permission to leave the room and Only be in the classroom when a staff member is present.

We also use "Bee tokens" as our "Free & Frequent" currency to recognise students in meeting and learning  behaviour expectations at school.  Students collect their tokens in a beehive and these can then be used to exchange for established class rewards.  Students are also recognised on assemblies with ribbons & badges for the bee tokens they have earned.

Smiling Mind

Create a mindful home for your family today! Learning mindfulness does not start or end in the classroom, parents and family members also play a key role.

We want to involve the entire community when it comes to teaching mindfulness and that's why we encourage families to get involved.
