From the Principal

Celebrating all things great at the Grove.

Welcome to March

What a beginning to term we have had!  I hope everyone has survived the last couple of weeks and are supported and taking time to care for each other and yourselves.  I know as a staff we have felt it amongst ourselves and for our students & families.  Please let us know if we can offer any further support to you during this time.  Thanks for all the offers for the Kiely family.  Mrs Sharnee Stephan is co-ordinating this on behalf of the P&C.

I'm excited to let you know that the work on our new building starts next week!  The 2 classroom building will be placed near the admin block with some covered walkways.  The footings and preparation will see some areas fenced off & the building will be 'dropped' on a Saturday.  3/4B will move into the classroom once it is ready, probably by the beginning of next term.  Follow the excitement on our FaceBook pages & Dojo!

We have 4 weeks left of the term & teachers are working to support student learning during this time.  They will be available for parent teacher meetings during week 7-9.  This year instead of making the appointments all on 1 day we are spreading them out over these weeks & individual teachers can be booked in to see through our school interviews website  https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code/sea53

COVID updates

As the Back to School plan from the department finishes up this week - monitoring student & staff wellbeing is still important.  Staff no longer need to wear masks in classrooms and families are welcomed back into school grounds.  We can hold school assemblies again, these will resume in the UCA on Monday at 9am.  Further information can be accessed on the department's COVID 19 website.

National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.

Join our school in saying Bullying. No Way! during the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence on Friday 18 March. This year’s theme Kindness Culture offers an opportunity to teach kindness and demonstrate kind behaviour – which play important roles in bullying prevention. The NDA promotes school, parent and community partnerships to build safe and supportive learning environments. For more information, visit the Bullying. No Way! Website.

It has a range of articles to support them to find their different, understand their learning options and learn handy study hacks.

Hearing Awareness Week

It’s Hearing Awareness Week next week (1–7 March) with World Hearing Day on 3 March. Both are timely reminders to protect your hearing.

Clean up Schools Day!

Schools Clean Up Day (Friday 4 March 2022) is a fun and engaging way to teach young Australians about the responsible disposal of rubbish, resource recovery and the repercussions of rubbish dumped irresponsibly in the local environment. Not only do we provide schools with a free starter pack of materials, but our website also features a range of learning resources to supplement the hands-on experience of the Clean Up.  After the events last weekend this falls on at a great time.  Students will participate on Friday to help them take pride in their school.
