Mr Cameron and Miss Judy
We've made it... well, almost. The end of Term One is very near and Miss Judy and I are pleased with the progress our class has made in showing persistence, stamina and focus. We would like to wish all families a safe and happy Easter and holiday and look forward to welcoming you back to what will be a solid term of school.
The students have been investigating how both trust and courage are important when it comes to seeking help. They recognised that when we seek help with larger problems we need to have:
Trust in those we choose to go to for help
Trust ourselves that we have the courage to ask
Trust that we can cope and have the courage to try again if no effective help is given when we ask.
Christo:
Today I did a trust walk with Luke. We took turns being blindfolded and leading each other around the playground.
I realised that you have to put a lot of trust in the other person because your eyes are in their hands and they are controlling you and you could get hurt. Another thing I realised is that you need courage. You need courage to trust that the other person is doing the right thing.
When you are the person who is leading the other person, you need to take care that you don’t hurt them or do something wrong.
I showed trust by letting Luke tell me what to do. I showed courage by knowing Luke knew what he was doing. I showed care by directing Luke without letting him fall or something bad happen.
Kira:
Today I did a trust walk with Lucy. We took turns being blindfolded and leading each other around the playground.
I realised that trusting someone you don’t know very well is really hard to do but I did it anyway. I was encouraging Lucy not to run into the wall. We both cared about each other’s well-being while doing this activity today.
Lucy:
Today I went around the playground blindfolded with Kira. It was weird not being able to see but in doing it, I now trust Kira more than before and I am now more comfortable being blindfolded. I know how much it matters to guide the other person carefully.
Stephna:
This afternoon I did a trust walk with Milie. We both took turns being blindfolded and leading each other everywhere. I have mostly realised that I trust Millie a lot. It took a while but we got there and for Milie I have a lot of courage to do it again. She got hit a few times but I tried to make Millie think she trusts me and that I care about her and myself not getting hurt and that we trust each other a lot.
Caleb:
I had a trust walk with Miss Judy. I trusted Miss Judy because she was very descriptive.
I had to be courageous when I went up and down the hills and through the tricky bits of the playground.
When I was leading Tomo, I took care of him. I felt a sense of control and I felt like Tomo trusted me (a bit!).
Jo Anne:
The trust walk was nerve-wracking. I know Luciana but being blindfolded made me put all my trust in her, although her instructions were a bit unclear which made it difficult.
When I was leading Lcciana, I tried my best to be clear but I didn't think she understood so I tried to guide her. She kept running from me which also made it difficult.
Sebastian:
Today I did a trust walk with Evangelos. We took turns being blindfolded and leading each other around the playground. I realised that we needed to trust each other to make sure we were both safe. I showed trust by making sure Evangeos didn’;t hurt himself.I also showed care by, when Evangelos fell, I made sure to help him back to his feet. I also showed courage by when I was blindfolded I didn’t hold back on Evangelos.
Seerat:
Today I did a trust walk with Elaine. We took turns being blindfolded and leading each other around the playground. I realised that when I guided Elaine, I needed the courage to guide her to places. When I was blindfolded I had to build trust in Elaine so she could lead me. The trust walk taught me a good lesson for the future. Care for each other for great purposes.
