1/2 T

Students and families in 12T have been very generous by making donations to Project Compassion during this Lenten period. So far we have raised more than $20.
During our Literacy and Education in Faith time, we have been learning more about what Project Compassion is all about.
As Saint Oscar Romero said, “Aspire not to have more, but to be more.”
So we have been thinking about how we can be more kind, more aware and more giving. We have been reading about people that live in many places around the world, and how the special projects that Caritas have set up through people's kind donations are helping them to live happier and healthier lives.
Next week our focus will be all about Holy Week in the lead up to Easter.
During Maths we have continued to increase on our understanding of numbers, especially their place value (units, tens and even hundreds) and using this knowledge to help us estimate (make sensible guesses) and round numbers to the nearest ten.
We have also been doing lots of warm up activities that involve us finding quantities or totals, without necessarily counting. We use our 'super hero eyes' to subitise - which means we can see a number without having to count it.
Next we will be working on using informal units to compare and order the mass (weight) and capacity (how much a container can hold) of lots of different objects and containers.
During Inquiry time, we have continued learning about changing materials in different ways. By using stretching, bending and twisting, we created our very own pretzels. We started by trialling lots of changes with a playdough model, then we drew our design so that it included 3 different changes and used a soft pretzel dough to build a new and improved pretzel. Best of all we investigated the effects of heating and cooling - by cooking, cooling and eating them!!
Look forward to seeing you all at the Family Picnic tomorrow.
Wishing you all a wonderful Easter and a peaceful and relaxing break.
