House Swimming Sports

Our House Swimming Sports were a great success despite the many challenges that we had to overcome.

Unfortunately we had a lot of students home isolating who were unable to attend the day, however those that attended had a lot of fun cheering on the swimmers and celebrating with great team spirit.

The eventual winner on the day was McAuley house with 1,292 points. They very narrowly defeated Glowrey, who finished just 12 points behind the winners with 1,280 points. Third place went to Rice on 1,082 points and rounding out the scores was Gleeson on 1,012 points.

Our age group champions for the day were as follows:

13 Years  Matilda Gazzard – Glowrey,  Toby Barren – McAuley. 14 Years  Tilly Geue – Rice, Ryan McAlinden - Glowrey. 15 Years  Alexis Phillips – Gleeson,   Sam Hutchinson – McAuley. 16 Years  Sienna Langdon – McAuley,  Aiden Kelly – Glowrey. 17 Years  Chloe Hay – Rice, Harry Brien – McAuley. 18 Years  Eliza Walters – Glowrey, Jack Gibson – Glowrey.

Our Super Fish contenders are made up of the six fastest female swimmers and six fastest male swimmers for the freestyle on the day. The six female swimmers were Paige Dorman, Sienna Langdon, Ellie Pownceby, Anna Testa, Eliza Walters and Jess Woods. The six male swimmers were Harry Brien, Jack Gibson, Aiden Kelly, Finn McAlinden, Tom McLennan and Patrick Wheadon.

Our Female Super Fish was Sienna Langdon and our Male Super Fish was Finn McAlinden.

While we all offer our congratulations to the age group champions and Super Fish winners, we also need to acknowledge what a fabulous job all of our swimmers did. It was certainly cold and uninviting for most of the day, but our swimmers dug deep, put their House first and swam to the best of their ability. We were all very proud of their efforts.

I would also like to thank our wonderful House Captains for all of the work they put into the day and the weeks leading up to the sports.

Each of the houses were left decimated with the large numbers of students who were out isolating and then had to try and fill them on the day.

This is a lot easier said than done and I am sure the captains thanked students many times throughout the day for continually putting their hands up to help out their team.

Lastly I would like to thank the fabulous PE department for all their assistance and to all staff who worked tirelessly throughout the day.

The SSV Coastal Swimming Carnival is on this Friday the 25th of February. The list of competitors has gone up in various places throughout the school and permissions have been sent through PAM.
