Aim

This two year course will provide an entry level qualification into the tourism industry and provide an insight into the skills and qualifications required to progress in the industry.

 

It will also provide students with a pathway into a Certificate IV in Tourism or Diploma in Tourism.

 

The Holmesglen tourism course has a very “hands on” approach to learning about the tourism industry. Students in both years will have the opportunity to use the latest tourism industry technology in a simulated tourism office and be trained by travel industry professionals.

 

You will learn how to prepare quotes, source airfares for domestic flights and sell tourism products and services. We also teach you how to provide great customer service and participate in safe work practices.

 

There’s even an optional Gold Coast trip to explore Queensland’s tourism industry and the operations of a theme park

Assessment

This program is not a scored study. Students who successfully complete the Unit 3 & 4 sequence will receive one ATAR increment which is calculated as 10 per cent of the fourth study score of the primary four Unit 3 and Unit 4 VCE studies.

 

Costs

It is anticipated the course costs for 2023 will be $850. Costs will be confirmed in October 2022 and an invoice sent to parents/guardians in November. Fees need to be paid in full prior to the end of the current school year in order to secure a place.
