Saints Mary and Joseph Cathedral Parish Weekend Mass Times:
Saturday 9 am & 6 pm
Sunday - 8 am, 10 am and 5.30 pm
Staff and Students at St Mary's have been learning our new school prayer. We would like to take this opportunity to share the ST MARY’S SCHOOL PRAYER with our families.
In our prayers this week...
We ask you to hear our humble prayers for all those afflicted by the devastating floodwaters throughout the state of Queensland & elsewhere in Australia.
We pray for those still threatened by flood in city & rural areas. Protect both life and property. In your mercy, bring relief to all affected areas.
A huge thank you to Mrs Kratz and Ms Symons for all of your work preparing pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. Also a thank you to our Mini Vinnies group for preparing, delivering and selling pancakes. With your donations, a total of $249.50 was raised for Project Compassion (Caritas).
On Wednesday we commenced the season of Lent, a time of preparation for the feast of Easter. During Lent, we give special attention to prayer (attending to quality more so than quantity), fasting (emptying ourselves that we may be filled with the life and love of Christ) and good deeds (not to win admiration for ourselves but to help others). Though it has a penitential character, Lent is a joyful season as we anticipate the resurrection of the Lord.
Thank you for your participation at our Ash Wednesday Mass. After almost two years of being unable to celebrate a whole school mass in the cathedral, it was extra special to see our community gathered. A particular thanks to Father Deleep for celebrating mass for us and the O'Connor music team for supporting our choir.
On Wednesday afternoon, students were each given a Project Compassion box. We encourage families to donate during the season of lent to support the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people living in poverty. Together, we can make a difference now, and For All Future Generations. These boxes will be collected at the end of Term 1.
Our Mini Vinnies Team have been working extra hard this last week. They are a dedicated and energetic bunch of students who are willing to go that extra mile to help out. This week we also welcomed Mrs Fitzgerald and Mrs Hore to our Mini Vinnies Team Meeting.
Thank you Father for visiting Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 today.

Holy Face Devotion will commene on Tuesday 8 March from 5.30 - 6.00pm and run every Tuesday at the side altar of the Holy Face. The devotion will include praying the Litany of the Holy Face, the Chaplet of the Holy Face, and a reflection with some time for quiet prayer.
Mother Effect
Mother Effect is a playgroup for families with children aged 0-5. Held fortnightly on Mondays 10.00-11.30am at the Holy Family Parish Centre (beside the Church). The gathering includes elements of life, faith and fun! BYO morning tea. We look forward to getting to know more new families this year. Dates this term are: 28th Feb, 14th March and 28th March.
All men of our school community, Catholic or Other-than-Catholic, are invited to attend the ARMIDALE DIOCESAN MENS' GATHERING (ADMG) to be held at McCarthy Catholic College, Tamworth, on Saturday morning, 19th March, starting over breakfast at 7.30am and finishing at lunchtime. Those living distant from Tamworth are welcome to join on line, perhaps gathering with fellow local participants in a 'hub". The morning will be built around faith & families. The principal speaker, Tim Davis, is a father of primary school children and pre-schoolers.
There will be an open forum with plenty of time for you to raise things that are important to you – perhaps mental health issues in children and families – perhaps how hard it is to be a man of faith today – perhaps helping children and teenagers navigate the on-line world in a safe way.
