AFL

Last Friday afternoon was the first of the two AFL Gala Days for 2021, and Clayfield had two teams compete. The afternoon was a great success, with all the girls thoroughly enjoying the event and learning more about the sport as they went. This was very evident in the final senior game of the night, where all three teams played a three-way game of AFL as no one wanted to sit off or wanted the event to end! A BIG thank you to Mrs. Rae Morris for the mid-event snack. All the CC girls and staff thoroughly enjoyed the crunchy hot chips! Student achievements

Aurora Saffery (Year 8)

Aurora's BjP Physie Club, Strathpine Physical Culture, held their club competition and showcase last Saturday evening.  As a result, Aurora was awarded the 2021 Overall Club Champion. Within the BjP Physie Club, this is a huge achievement and Aurora is thrilled with the honour. Well done Aurora! What a wonderful year of great performances that have been topped off with this club honour.

Mia Geere (Year 8) and Allegra Pollack (Year 10)

Allegra and Mia competed in the QSS 13 to15 girls Cricket State Championships over three days at Amberley last week. Their Met North team came 4th overall.

Allegra captained the team throughout the championship.  One of her batting highlights was 47 runs off 46 balls.  This included one 6 and 5 x 4’s. She scored a total of 135 runs throughout the competition.  Her best bowling was 1/13 off 3 overs. Allegra was rewarded for her outstanding performance by her selection on the Queensland team.  The team will play against the ACT next year.

Well done to both girls and in particular, Allegra for her brilliant performances in such a key position in the team.

It is wonderful to share student achievements with you, so if your child has achieved a significant result in her sport, please send an email labelled “Student Achievements” to Ms. Christine Barnes so we can share and celebrate this achievement with the wider community.
