COVID - Face Masks

As per yesterday's announcement from the Queensland Government, we no longer are required to wear facemasks at school. The Government strongly recommends that we all continue to wear a facemask on public transport and places where people cannot socially distance.  Further information can be found on the Queensland Health website.

From the Academic Captains

Kaylin Barrie and Nysha Kapur

As Clayfield College’s Academic Captains for 2022, we are very excited for the year that lies ahead of us. We feel privileged to have been selected for this position and hope to continue enhancing passion and pride for learning in students across the Primary and Secondary schools.

We aim to help Clayfield students strive for excellence, to push everyone to work hard and achieve their very best in all aspects of their learning. In doing this, we plan to continue programs such as Peer Mentoring, where older students can mentor younger students in subject areas that they feel confident in. We believe this program is beneficial to both the mentor and mentee, and we will endeavour to enhance this program further next year. Additionally, Homework Help allows younger students to be assisted and supervised by senior students each afternoon. We hope to use this to benefit each student and foster the sense of curiosity and love for learning that Clayfield has instilled in us. Next year, we would like to begin a new Clayfield tradition - the MasterMinds Challenge. As part of this initiative, we will run trivia and hands-on challenges for students to get involved in. Students will compete in their Pastoral Care Groups and can gain points for their House.

We are honoured to be Academic Captains for 2022 and look forward to a year filled with academic fun, growth and excellence.

Culture and the Arts

As part of our celebration of Culture and the Arts at Clayfield College this week, our Secondary students have participated in several activities. At lunchtime, the students have been involved in Zumba, Salsa and Flamenco dancing classes. The Confucious Institute from the Queensland University of Technology visited our Chinese students on Thursday, and students were able to participate in dumpling making, calligraphy painting, fan dancing, Kung Fu and Animal Tai Chi. Thank you to our language teachers Ms. Ruby Chen, Mrs. Estefania Carrasco and Ms. Angela Guzman, for organising these activities for the students.

This Friday evening, we will be hosting our LUX Exhibition. This includes the Visual Art Exhibition and Music, Drama and Language performances. Please ensure you have sent your RSVP via the Humanatix link. We look forward to celebrating the vibrant arts culture at Clayfield College with the community.
