Christmas Appeal

The Service Committee is running a Christmas Appeal throughout November.

A Christmas tree will be set up in the library with tags containing ideas of children’s presents that could can be purchased and left unwrapped under the tree. These gifts will then be donated to Berry Street.

Berry Street change the lives of Australia’s most vulnerable young people, providing programs to over 35,000 families each year. During the Christmas period, they give gifts to children experiencing times of hardship, where this will likely be the only gift they receive. Find out more about Berry Street.

The two-week period for donations will be from Friday12 November to Friday 26 November.

We would be grateful for donations of children’s toys (for all genders), colouring books, story books, games, board games, puzzles, arts and crafts supplies, sporting equipment, lunch boxes and drink bottles, baby items including bibs, bottles, rompers, shoes, clothes and pyjamas. Unfortunately, soft toys and second-hand items cannot be accepted.

There will be a donation box under the Christmas where the gifts can be placed.

We appreciate any generous donations. It is also a great opportunity to talk to your daughters about under-privileged people and the hardship some families face at Christmas.

Clothing donations

In the last full week of classes (29 November–3 December) we will also be collecting clothing donations for our Year 9 Environmental Challenge program. These clothes will be sorted and sent to a local organisation in need.

We would appreciate any donations of washed second-hand clothing for all ages. Please contact Claire Cheeseman ccheeseman@shelford.vic.edu.au if you have any donations to bring in.
