Sport, PE and Health in 2022 – staffing update

It is exciting to see some sport up and running again in the community. I have recently joined the Girls’ Sport Victoria (GSV) Management Committee as a Principal member and it is gratifying to be involved in the planning for 2022.

We are very excited about the team of staff and the programs that we will be offering to Shelford students in 2022.

Head of Faculty – PE/Health

We are very thrilled to welcome Shelley Veale to this role in 2022. Shelley joins us from Nossal Secondary, where she is the Head of Faculty – PE and Health, leading a team of educators in a high performing school. Shelley is an outstanding educator who is committed, experienced and innovative in her approach to her teaching. She has strong pastoral experience having been a Head of Year and Head of House. In addition, Shelley has strong experience running sport programs, through leadership roles with School Sport Victoria.

Director of Rowing

Jules Whitehead is continuing to develop and build on our Rowing Program and we are excited that the current season is able to proceed. We continue to enjoy a collaborative relationship with Banks Rowing Club where our senior teams row. Rowing camps will continue over the summer and it should be a wonderful season in 2022, with the Head of the River at the Barwon in March and nationals, most likely able to proceed.

GSV weekly sport, Years 7–12

Aimee-Claire Lees is coordinating GSV until the end of 2021, when she will be taking six months maternity leave.

Megan is an alumnus of Shelford, who has been working on the GSV program for a number of years, so has experience of the sports offered, the administration programs and our students.
