SPA update

AGM | World Teachers' Day | Secondhand Uniform Sale | Parent Business Directory

SPA AGM 

The SPA Annual General Meeting was held in October and we took the time to reflect upon a challenging year and to commence planning for 2022.

 

Despite the 2021 team only meeting face-to-face twice this year, we still persisted to keep things moving along in SPA-land and achieve some special things for our Shelford Community. Although some events being cancelled, we were still able to run the following:

  • SPA Parents Drinks and Nibbles
  • Mother’s Day Stall
  • Mother’s Day Breakfast which raised nearly $500 for the St Kilda Mums charity
  • Father’s Day ‘Camp at Home’ which raised over $200 for the Shelford Winter Appeal for Sleeping Bags for Homelessness.
  • Year 12 Students Care packages
  • World Teachers Day Thank You Gift
  • Father’s day stall – delayed, but coming soon!
  • Xmas stall – scheduled for 6 December
  • Fundraising was limited this year, with our two main sources of income being the Uniform Sale, and the Mango Fundraiser.

We also kicked off some other Initiatives to engage and support the Community:

  • Parents business advertising – any business run by a member of the community, can place a free advertisement on the website or the app which – we are currently running a pilot, and this will be rolled out more broadly next year.
  • Funding of Citizenship and Shelly Spirit Awards for the students – to be presented before end of Term 4.

Also at the AGM, the SPA Committee and Members were nominated and appointed for 2022 as follows:

Please also note that if you don’t wish to join the SPA, but would like to volunteer for any events in 2022, we will be publishing a list in the next newsletter, so please get in touch. Otherwise, you are most welcome to attend any of our regular monthly meetings.

World Teachers' Day 

SPA organised a thank you gift for our amazing teachers and staff at Shelford! What a year 2021 has been and our staff have been positive and supportive role models and leaders in our school. We thank you, for all you do to ensure our students remain at the centre of our focus here at Shelford.

Secondhand uniform sale

We are delighted to confirm the next Secondhand Uniform Sale scheduled for Monday 22 November, 2–6pm. Please find more information on how to sell your uniform in the Uniforms section of the newsletter.

Parent Business Directory    

We are delighted to be starting a Parent Business Directory. This is a free service for all parents to share their businesses with the community. Any parent who has a business or a service they would like to advertise are welcome to submit using the linked template and send to spa@shelford.vic.edu.au.
