Firstly, congratulations to Nusaybah Rahman from Prep and Kingston Easte from Year One who this week received their prizes for the Drama Show and Tell Challenge. In fact, a massive thanks to all Prep and Year One students for their wonderful work. After completing our Prep and Year 1 Drama program via Remote Learning by exploring the connection between Dance and Drama, it was fantastic to be able to conclude Drama lessons and begin working towards the upcoming Christmas Carols.
The heavy rains did nothing to dampen the Saltwater spirit as students enjoyed Book Day in the week just passed. Dressing as a favourite character from a book with this year's theme being "Another World", allowed students to show off some fantastic costumes and join in the fun with staff and teachers alike.
Selected Year Six students who have displayed some wonderful work in their Drama investigations this year have begun rehearsing an exciting showcase of their work for their Graduation Ceremony. Acting, in particular, goes far beyond simply learning and repeating written lines of course and this Drama contribution will be an example of the nuance and focus that the students have brought to their work, supporting the depth of their onstage performances. Further focus will be to work with the student MCs who will no doubt do a wonderful job on the night.
Finally, after months of waiting patiently and working hard remotely, Aladdin rehearsals will begin back onsite from next week! With the postponement of the Aladdin performance till Term One next year, Aladdin cast and production team now have the opportunity to gain a head-start towards mapping out the larger ensemble scenes which will blend into the big song and dance numbers.
