Principal's Message

Term 1 Week 2

Welcome to 2021 at MPRPS&K

Staff and I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our families for making the start of the year so smooth! We know there are some continued challenges from our COVID19 restrictions but students and families, alike have been amazing.

We have had a great start to the year with all new Foundation and Kindergarten students starting.

Last week students learnt all about daily and weekly routines and continued where they left off from 2020 STEP UP Week in getting to know new classmates and teachers. School students spent time determining classroom expectations, revising the Mount Pleasant Road values and sharing their holiday experiences. Specialist classes start this week including, Indonesian, Performing Arts, PE and Visual Art. Timetables for each class are included in the Information Book that parents receive in Information Night week.

Kitchen/Garden Program

This year will see our Kitchen/Garden Program get a new lease of life. Marissa Mundy and Gabrielle Uhlendorf will be developing a program alongside classroom teachers and with additional support from Education Support staff Louise Naismith and Jane McDonald. Look out for more information from your children as they cook in the Cafe Studio and work in the student garden.

Sentral Parent Portal

All new families are issued with a letter which includes a portal key (only needs to be used once) that is used to set up the portal. Then the App can be set up. All parents have access to the Sentral Parent Portal. Through the portal you can access

  • Messages from the school
  • Your child’s reports
  • Enrolment information
  • Newsletters
  • Calendar
  • Make bookings for Three Way Conferences (Parent/Teacher Interviews),
  • Emails from the class teacher
  • Enter absence reports
  • Access policy documents
  • Give consent for incursion/excursions

The Sentral Parent App does not have the same functionality as the Sentral Parent Portal but is easier to read on a phone or tablet and is a way of receiving notifications of teacher emails or whole school information. If you have any concerns please come to the office or contact us so that Ally can assist you to get set up.

Permission Notes and Information

On Wednesday 3rd February an information pack will come home for each student. Included in the pack will be information regarding Consent Forms and School Fees. Please read carefully and then sign the consent form through Sentral by Friday 1th February at the latest so that we can provide the best care and your child is able to participate in all school activities fully. You can find more information regarding School Fees and Payments on the 'Important Information' page.

CSEF (Camp, Swimming, Excursion Fund)

Just a reminder to all families if you were successful in receiving CSEF in 2020 you will automatically roll over into this year and no forms will need to be filled out.

If you are a new family and would like to apply for CSEF and you hold a current health care or pension card please see form attached.

Tutor Learning Program

As highlighted last year The Tutor Learning Initiative is designed to support students whose learning has been disrupted as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Schools must only use their funding to provide targeted teaching to students identified as needing support. The Initiative will be delivered in 2021 and commence in schools from Term 1.

Schools will be able to determine the most appropriate model of tutoring for their school and students.

MPRPS received funding in line with provision for one classroom teacher for the year.

Erin Bennetts and Simone Rock will deliver our tutor learning program with identified students across English, Mathematics and school engagement. Parents and carers of selcted students will receive a letter through Sentral which they need to acknowledge for students who will receive tutor support in Term One. At this stage we have approximately 50 students receiving the targeted support and will continue to use assessments to select and cater for students across the year.
