Prep - Year 2

Assistant Principal's Report

So long 2020

Today marks the end of the most unbelievable schooling year in memory.  The resilience and perseverance shown by not only our junior school students and teachers but the entire Pakenham Springs community has been incredible and I can't express enough how proud we all are of all of our students at Pakenham Springs.

In recent weeks we have been busy finalising staffing and student groupings for 2021, and as of last week, students became aware of their Classroom Teacher, room number and classmates for 2021. Both transition sessions ran incredibly smoothly and it was wonderful to get around to classrooms and see settled students forming bonds and learning more about their teachers, classmates and what to expect from their next year of schooling.  Our staggered Step-into-Prep sessions also ran like clockwork and we certainly have some enthusiastic young children, very excited to start school next year. Class parties were also a feature of our final week and students loved celebrating the year with their peers and teachers.

Students and Teachers in all year levels should feel incredibly proud of their results and accomplishments in 2020.  Working so closely with our junior school teams has given me a great sense of pride in the growth of our students and of the application and commitment of our staff. This was personified by future junior school teams on Wednesday night 'speed dating' with current classroom teachers to learn more about their students next year. We are incredibly fortunate to have such committed and enthusiastic teachers, whose dedication is unwavering in their commitment to challenge and bring out the best in all students.

I look forward to returning next year and being a member of the Pakenham Springs community in what is sure to be an exciting chapter in our school's relatively short history. With planning and priorities already finalised, I look forward to working closely with all key stakeholders to ensure that Pakenham Springs remains a vibrant and exciting learning community, reflecting our three core values of respect, responsibility and resilience.

In the meantime, I hope that everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable break, as well as a very Merry Christmas, shared with loved ones.

Until then, take care.

Regards
