2020 Cows Create Careers
2020 Cows Create Careers Fun in the Cloud
An online Presentation Day was held at Kempsey High School in early November to award several Year 7 and Year 8 Agriculture students who participated in the Cows Create Careers (CCC) – Farm Module “Fun in the Cloud” project. The Presentation Day recognised schools from the Mid Coast, South Coast, Far Coast & Central regions that had completed the project.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Dairy Australia’s popular CCC project was delivered via an online hub for Term 3, 2020. The hub offered various curriculum options - ‘Normal’, ‘Reduced’ and ‘Easy to Implement’ - schools choose the option that best suited their requirements.
Each school was provided with dairy industry curriculum and ongoing support for years 7-11, at no cost. While the students did not get ‘hands-on’ this year, CCC remained highly engaging through fun industry-based resources.
Students took an online journey through Willbrae Farm where they were introduced to two dairy calves, ‘Bright’ and ‘Future’. Over five weeks, students found out how to care for the calves and watch them grow through engaging videos. Students learnt about the environment, technology and machinery used on a farm through quirky activities and competitions. As with all CCC resources, the online program prioritised student learning and aligns with the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
Yr 7 student Ella Saul and Yr 8 student Jorja Thacker were awarded winners from the Option 3 module. A special thank you to Yr 7 student Elora Graham who was the motivational force that began the CCC extra-curricular activity.
Congratulations to our winners and well done to all of the students who participated.
