Principal's Report

Principal’s Message

Season Greetings

On behalf of all of us here at Mount View Primary School I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday period. For many that will also include a very Merry Christmas and for everyone a Happy New Year. 2020 has been a unique school year and everyone should take great pride in their achievements in such difficult times. The next school year will be a chance for everyone to grow and learn in more normal circumstances.

Staff Leaving

A number of staff members will be leaving Mount View to take up new roles at other schools. We thank each of these people for dedication and great work while at our school and we wish them every success in their careers in education. Ashleigh Klooger (1KW) is moving to Cheltenham East PS, Rebecca Newman (Prep RN) is moving to Caulfield South PS while Christina Grillo (Educational Support) is moving to Yarra Glen PS.

Staff Changing Roles at Mount View

A number of staff members will be continuing their association with Mount View but in different capacities in 2021. I would like to thank Colleen Greenway for her work with 2FD in Term 4. Colleen will remain in close contact with school casual relief teaching. I would like to thank John Kennedy for his work with Graduate Teachers in 2020 and will return 2021 in various roles (Coaching, Tutoring, Chess Management and Casual Relief Teacher).

Kate Baxter will take up the role of Teacher of the Deaf during the year following a term as a Daily Relief Teacher. Avril Burke will work part-time as a classroom teacher (6CB), Kylie Browning and Vanessa Ng will work in various classes as Daily Relief Teachers.

The 2021 School Year

For all students in Years 1 – 6 the new school year will begin on Friday 29th January with an 8:50am start. Preps begin full-time classes on Friday 5th February following a week of individual testing in English and Mathematics. There will be thirty-six new students to our school and the enrolment is predicted to be 1010 students in forty-two classes.

School Council

Throughout 2020 the School Council has met via Webex at each monthly meeting. It was great that the Covid restrictions have eased in Victoria so that we were able to meet together for the School Council this last Monday. Thank you to all parent members and staff who worked on School Council responsibilities this year.

Best Wishes to all our families and friends.
