From Our Students

GRADE 6 WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL

On March 4, all of the year 6 classes participated in an incursion called Wheel Talk.

Peter Ogunyemi came in to discuss his story and being in a wheelchair. Peter grew up in Nigeria with a disability that caused home to be in a wheelchair. In order to get to school, he had to wake up at 4:00am and leave by 5:00am as he had to crawl 3.5 kilometres to get there.

Ever since Peter came to Australia, he has played wheelchair footy and basketball.

The year sixes had the chance to try wheelchair basketball. It was very hard to stop the wheelchair, and turn and shoot, but overall it was a worthwhile and extraordinary experience.

If you want to learn more about Peter open your internet browser and type Peter Ogunyemi.
