ICT- Bullying. No Way!

NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST BULLYING

Friday 20 March 2020 is the National Day of Action Against Bullying (NDA).

'Bullying. No Way!' has created a range of lessons and discussion starters to support schools in their prevention of online bullying and inappropriate behaviours, that teachers will be implementing as part of their program.

Providing students with opportunities to talk about bullying is an important part of making a positive change. As a school, we encourage staff, students and parents to respond and support positive and preventative behaviours.

Do you know what your children are accessing when online?

To support the NDA 2020, we invite parents to have a conversation with their children regarding their online behaviours.

The NDA encourages parents to have open discussions about online behaviours which may include:

-Engaging in 'group chat' situations respectfully

-Using apps that are age appropriate

-Limiting the content that students view on sites such as 'YouTube'

-Minimising screen time at night to assist in sleep and rest

-Reporting unsafe and disrespectful online behaviours

Through authentic conversations and activities, students consider, discuss, and contribute to the creation of appropriate and relevant strategies to respond to bullying.

Thank you for your support,

Hannah Vesikko - ICT Coordinator
