Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer
We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.
It is through their vision, determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.
We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.
Remembrance Day - November 11th
Remembrance Day was first observed in 1919 throughout the British Commonwealth. It was originally called “Armistice Day” to commemorate armistice agreement that ended the First World War on Monday, November 11, 1918, at 11 a.m.—on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
Today we pray for all the people who died or were injured in wars and also for the families who lost loved ones. We pray especially for world peace.
Socktober - Crazy Sock Day
Congratulations to the Social Justice team for all their great work in organising our 'Socktober' appeal and Crazy Sock Day including some great recess and lunchtime activities. Through the wonderful efforts of everyone at St. Marys we were able to send of a donation of $610.10 to Catholic Mission.
Fire Carriers Commissioned -
Our FIRE Carriers commissioning took place earlier in the term. Congratulations to Noah Kennedy, Sienna Smith, Xavier Morgan, Eden Woodward, Lila Kate Nierderle, Charla Varapodio and Darcy Shannahan. They have been great leaders for the school and as FIRE Carriers. These students also led the school today in a short Remembrance Day ceremony.
Sacraments update -
Confirmation –
Due to the continued restrictions on Church masses and special services we have reluctantly made the decision to postpone any celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation until 2021. The group of children in Grade Six who were to make their Confirmation are currently completing the workbook and program preparation in Term Four at home and will be ready to make their Confirmation in 2021 on a date to be arranged.
Eucharist -
Due to the continued restrictions the Sacrament of Eucharist has been postponed until next year as well. A small number of children are preparing for the sacrament with the home workbook and will make their first Eucharist individually later in the term when numbers at mass allows.
Reconciliation -
Congratulations to Abel Huggard who made his first Reconciliation today.
