Many of you would have seen the wonderful article and photo of Mons Peter in Monday's Shepp News. His hopes were fulfilled with the Tigers winning another flag! Click here to see the article.
Well done to all students for the amazing and very creative Book Week costumes. It was lots of fun and I even got to take on the champ -Rocky Balboa! (AKA Aryan Bhatti) . Our librarian, Nerissa Russell always makes Book Week so much fun for the children with displays and activities in the library. Thank you Nerissa!
Don't forget that Friday is Crazy Sock day to raise money for Socktober fundraiser!
Some good news earlier in the week with the announcement that our Grade 6 Fun Day and Graduation ceremony will still be able to go ahead. Unfortunately at this stage, parents are not permitted to attend the ceremony on the 15th of December, but we will be live streaming for families to watch online. A decision on the format and time will be made in the next week or so.
Our FIRE Carriers commissioning took place last week. Congratulations to Noah Kennedy, Sienna Smith, Xavier Morgan, Eden Woodward, Lila Kate Nierderle, Charla Varapodio and Darcy Shannahan. They have been great leaders for the school and as FIRE Carriers
On Friday, the Gr 3-6 students will be doing some personal safety lessons and activities to mark the Day for Daniel. I urge all families to discuss personal safety with their children and have a look at the Daniel Morcome Foundation website.
Each Saturday, a video of Mons Peter celebrating the Sunday mass is emailed out to families and parishioners. Click below to view last week's mass:
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback for my principal appraisal which was completed last week. It is a privilege to be able to have the time to reflect on both my performance and how St Mary's has developed during my time as Principal. Thanks to the staff parents and students who completed surveys or interviews with the panel.
It was great to see school photographers given the green light to visit schools (under strict regulations) and take photos before the end of the year. Our school photos are taking place next Friday 6th November.
I am currently looking at applicants for a trainee (gap year) position. If you know anyone who may be interested, please ask them to contact me at school.
The Grade 5/6's have been creating Curious Creatures in art this week. Jesse and Nathan are pictured here with their masterpieces titled "Jeff" & "Meep".
Q: What vegetables do librarians like?
A: Quiet peas!
Q: Why didn’t the burglar break into the library?
A: He was afraid he’d get a long sentence!
Week 2 Ariana Vourgaslis
Ariana is a bright and cheerful student who brings happiness into her classroom each day. She always tries her best, even if the work is difficult and she concentrates hard until she finishes. Well done Ariana!
Week 3 Anabelle Barillaro
Anabelle is a very polite and kind young girl who always works hard in the classroom. I was particularly impressed with her Book Week Dress Up costume - a snow dome! Congratulations Annabelle (and her mum) for such a brilliant costume!
Hopefully we get some nice weather so we all can enjoy the long weekend. Just a reminder there is no school on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd November.
