Mr Reid's Sports Report

BEACH VOLLEYBALL

Thursday of Week 5 saw West Beach travel down to Glenelg Beach to compete against other schools in Beach Volleyball. The students had an awesome day on the sand. We played some high quality Volleyball which saw three of our boys teams play in some really competitive finals. In Div 1, we had West Beach 1 vs West Beach 2 play off in a semi final. 15 points each at the end of regulation which allowed for a ‘Golden Point’ which sealed the win for West Beach 2. They went on to beat St Leonards in the grand final. Congratulations boys!

I say this in just about every sports report that I do….but thank you to all parents who helped either transport their child, transport other West Beach PS students or came down to support on the day. These types of events simply cannot happen without your support. Thank you! Thanks to Mr Bahinish and Ms Ramsey for taking time out of their teaching to support the students.

TAG RUGBY

Fast forward a week and West Beach is off to compete in the Year 6/7 Tag Rugby! An excellent carnival ran really well by the guys at the NRL. A bit of drizzle didn’t stop our teams competing really well against some polished schools. Lots of wins, a few draws and a few losses. A great day.

HOCKEY

Unfortunately, Wednesday of Week 6 would have seen 60 Year 5/6/7 students head to Seacliff Hockey to compete against other schools. This event is now cancelled due to the recent Covid restrictions. Rest assured, the Tiger Cup will be back and better than ever in 2021. We had two girls teams playing off in the Grand Final last year…we will bring home the cup again!!!

Kind Regards,
