Journalism micro Summer courses
Year 10, Year 11, Year 12 students
Senior students keen to improve their writing skills and/or learn about journalism and news writing are welcome to join Jschool's online Micro journalism course over summer.
There are two intakes:
- 7 December 2020
- 11 January 2021
With weekly lessons and exercises providing personalised feedback from professional journalists, the 5-week course provides an interesting insight into the world of news media as well as teaching the basic principles of writing news. The Micro journalism course (Newswriting Basics) costs $299 (all resources included) and gives credit towards our JR101 unit within the Diploma of Journalism.
In addition to the micro course, enrolment in up to three online subjects in the Diploma is open to senior secondary students. These include introductory journalism, shorthand (speed writing) and history & literature for journalists. Each unit has stand-alone value and can also be credited towards the eight-unit Diploma of Journalism. The units can be studied over summer or during the year.
