Interhouse Swimming Carnival

Our 2018 Sr Mary Murray Interhouse Swimming Carnival went off with a bang last Thursday, 15 February. In stifling conditions, what better place to be than in the silky blue waters at HBF stadium.

The day ran like clockwork alongside the ever professional Glenn Mitchell. Glenn commentated all day and to his credit was still perfectly articulating events, even after 180 of them! A very big thank you is extended to Glenn for his service on the day.

Throughout the day we saw 17 records broken with the competition being close and the quality of performances very high. Top quality racing was witnessed in the main arena, and fun, spirit and participation was on show in our novelty events.

Towards the end of the day, it was becoming clear who our dominant house was, however, the ever important relays were the real decider of the overall champion house.

Our Spirit Award was judged on a number of different facets from participation in novelty events, spirit and attitudes, house decorating, cheering and marshalling. It was with great pleasure to announce Koolyangarra as our 2018 Spirit Award recipients. Congratulations to all students who contributed to this award.

It was for the second year running, that Loyola were the overall House Champions of the Sr Mary Murray IBVM Swimming Carnival. Congratulations to Mr Yates and his Loyola Army for taking out the top prize.  A fantastic effort from all students.

Overall, a great day was had by all. A very big thank you to all the staff who assisted on the day, particularly those in the PE Department and our volunteer parent helpers.

All individual Champions and Runner-Up champions will be recognised at the Secondary Assembly scheduled for 15 March.
