Football

Caitlin Wallace in Year 8 has played representative soccer with Northern Inland Football for three years. Her talent was noticed quickly and she has been rewarded by representing the region at State Championships for those three years and selected each year to trial for Nationals.

When possible Caitlin has been travelling to Newcastle to train with the Emerging Jets of a Friday and sometimes Wednesday evening. This commitment coincides with her Saturday club games with North Companions. Caitlin currently trains and plays six times a week.

Recently, Caitlin was the only female chosen from this region to play with the Emerging Jets girls' soccer team at the M Sports Cup in Sydney in the second week of the school holidays.

The M Sports Cup is a global football tournament for talented boys and girls with teams from across the globe. The tournament was attended by New Zealand Football Federations and top Australian NPL clubs and played at Valentine Sports Park Sydney, home of Football New South Wales.

Caitlin spent the first week of the school holidays training twice a day for four hours, learning from some of the best coaches in NSW.  In the second week she participated in the three day M Sports Cup tournament as part of the Emerging Jets team.

The Emerging Jets girls competed strongly, finishing 6th in the tournament from 11 teams entered.

Caitlin’s short term goal is to play at Nationals next year for Northern NSW and future goal is to be selected and play with the Australian team - The Matildas.
