Careers News

University Information Evening
It was pleasing to see students and parents attend the evening and being able to talk to university and college representatives after the formal presentations. We are grateful to UNE, University of Wollongong, University of Newcastle, Bond University and St Albert's College at UNE for their presence.
Students who were unable to be there were offered the chance to attend a condensed presentation on Monday 24 July at lunchtime with booklets also being made available to them.
Career Resources for Year 12
All Year 12 students will be receiving three books this term to assist them with planning for life after school. They are:
Week 2
-Student Guide: Your Survival Guide to Life Beyond School
-2017 McCarthy Year 12 Careers Booklet
Week 5
-UAC 2017-2018
There are also various guest speakers lined up to come to talk to our students this term.
Work Experience
It was pleasing to see students, mainly in Year 10, doing Work Experience during the holidays and in Week 1 this term. We have had students gain insight into careers in hospitals, vet clinics, Taronga Zoo, engineering, mechanical and other areas.
It all starts with students filling in the Application to do Work Experience form which is available on the door of the Careers Adviser's Office. Once it has been approved, all the necessary paperwork must be completed for legal and insurance purposes.
