Stephanie Alexander Kitchen
What a great start to the year we’ve had in the Stephanie Alexander kitchen! This year the students from grades 3 to 6 will have kitchen sessions right through the year on a 3 week rotation which is a great way to enjoy preparing our produce from every season.
To start the year we are focusing on breakfasts, which is often a meal that is skipped but is so important, and it gives us a great start to the day.
For the first menu we have been focusing on brushing up on our knife skills and worked closely with the grade 3’s who are in the kitchen for the first time.
Our first menu for the year is a simple breakfast consisting of;
- Fruit salad
- Honey yogurt
- Toasted muesli
Thank You
This week Alba and I put on a “thank you” morning tea for a very special lady.
Mrs Toom Larkin has been a regular helper in the kitchen for over 5 years, but sadly has decided to hang up her apron and give up volunteering in the program. I know the children will miss her as will I. Thank you Toom!
Parent Helpers
I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who have returned to help in the kitchen again, there are also lots of new faces which is just wonderful! The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen and Garden program does rely heavily on the support of our volunteers as without them we just wouldn’t have this amazing program.
If there are any parents, grandparents, aunts, cousins or friends out there who are interested in volunteering in either the kitchen or garden please email me on nista.sonia.s@edumail.vic.gov.au or contact our office staff.
The only requirement is a current working with children card and attendance at one of our parent helper training sessions with Mr Patrick Halpin.
