Library News

Congratulations to Nicholas Schulte of Year 7 (first prize winner) and Roselyn Chang of Year 10 (second prize winner) for being able to correctly identify all of the teachers hiding behind the autumn leaves in our last competition. You must really observant! I hope you enjoyed your Orchard vouchers. Be on the lookout for more competitions coming up.

Library early closures

Until the end of term, the Library will close at 4.00pm instead of 4.30pm. If students need an area to continue studying or await pickup they are welcome to use the Senior Centre. The Library opening time [8.15am] will remain the same. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Reading suggestions

Understanding that for some, a good “holiday read” is something light-hearted that can easily be put down between activities, while for others it is a chance to fully immerse in another world and “lose yourself”; the year 7 Wider Reading Group would like to offer a few “holiday reading” suggestions for the break:

  • If you like sport:  Specky Magee by Felice Arena
  • Something light and humourous :  Captain Underpants by Dave Pilkey
  • A substantial horror read:  It or Pet Sematary by Stephen King
  • Graphic Novel (with some inappropriate humour & swearing):    Cyanide and happiness (n.b. this is a  Youtube webcomic)
  • A classic others may not have read:  Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
  • An entertaining entry to fantasy:  Land of Stories by Chris Colfer
  • Fantasy by a female Australian writer:  books by Isabel Carmody eg. Obernewton series
  • Classic saga fantasy:  books by Tolkien
  • Want to expand the world of Star Wars past the movies: “Star Wars” novels
  • Empathize with others who struggle:  Wonder by R.J. Palacio
