Basketball

In 2020 there will be some changes to the Head of Basketball positions. I will be taking over the Basketball administration role for Senior Men's and Under 14 and 16 boys while new staff member Mrs Leanne Outtram will do the same role for females. Simone Brabham will still oversee the under 10 and 12 teams. Please feel free to communicate with Simone or myself in regards to your basketball inquiries for the remainder of this year and if you or your child are still to confirm their involvement as a player at any level or interest in coaching please do this ASAP before the end of the school year so we can move forward in our 2020 planning.

Football

There will be a training session for any boys interested in playing for Hamilton Kangaroos Under 16 or 14 teams in either the Hampden or newly formed GSWJFL at Melville oval on Friday 13th December beginning at 5pm. It is advisable that that those boys intending on playing for these teams attend this session. Remember, that there is no College Magpies team in any age group in 2020 so I recommend those boys who are capable aim to play at the highest level possible which is the Hampden League.

College CC - 'Panel or a Picket Project'

We've had some brilliant support for our 'Panel or a Picket Project' over the past few weeks but also a few questions about what acknowledgement might look like. We've had some signs mocked up as examples of what your plaques would like if you purchase a Panel or a Picket and they're attached below.

The intention is to send all those who make a donation, a form allowing them to specify exactly what wording they would like on the plaque, within a designated character count. For businesses wanting to purchase a panel, we can have it designed to incorporate a business logo (as per the example attached). This form will be sent once we get closer to to a closing date.

If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to ask.

Netball Report

The 2019 Summer Netball Competition has seen plenty of talent and improvement across the netball courts for all College teams that have entered. The 13 & Under College Magpies lost their first game by 4 goals; however, over the course of the competition, the girls have come into strong form winning Round 2 by a large margin and narrowly winning Round 3 by 2 goals. Magpies dominated Round 4 when the girls secured a win by 33 goals. The team managed to get another win last week and continues to show some wonderful defence, a speedy midcourt and an unstoppable attacking end.

The 15 & Under/Open competition has two College teams entered. The College Diamonds and College Vixens teams seem to be getting some wins in a tough competition. Both College teams lost in Round 1 but College Diamonds managed to gain a 17 goal win in Round 2. Although, the College Vixens team got off to a slow start, their resilience has shone through with a win in Round 3 and an enormous 32 goal win in Round 4. Last Saturday, College Diamonds and Vixens played one another. The match could have gone either way with both teams having strong defence and sharp shooters but College Vixens managed to walk away with a win.

As the competition is coming to a close and finals are approaching, all College teams are in search of victory. I’d like to wish the teams the best of luck for the last rounds and an enormous thank you needs to go out to all coaches, team managers and umpires and to Mrs Ogle for always organising the College netball teams exceptionally well and giving the girls an opportunity to improve their skills.
