2021 Musical

We are proud and excited to announce that the Avila-Mazenod Musical co-production this year will be the West End and worldwide smash hit musical, WE WILL ROCK YOU, based on the songs of Queen!

The musical is set in a distant dystopian future and tells the story of a group of rebels who struggle to restore free thought, fashion and music in a society where everyone dresses, thinks and acts the same. 

In this world, where musical instruments are forbidden and rock music is all but unknown, a band of misfits challenge a ‘Killer Queen’ to reclaim the awesome power of live music and ROCK! 

The musical cleverly interweaves the songs of QUEEN to create a larger-than-life world and an epic struggle to ‘break free’!

We Will Rock You Auditions

Auditions are now open!!  Auditions are open to all students from Years 7-12.  All necessary information is included in the audition pack which is located here: https://mazcom.mazenod.vic.edu.au/news/5120

Mazenod will provide transport to Avilla for rehearsals.

Attention Budding Musicians

A huge thank you and congratulations to all students who have embarked upon the project of learning to play an instrument, we are approaching 100 students rapidly!!

Given the current situation, there has never been a better time to start learning.  In 2020 the music department was delighted with the results and efforts of our musicians in lockdown.  It was one of the few activities that could still continue without compromise and online lessons were a spectacular success!

Timetables

Timetables have been posted on MazCom.  Timetables are constantly changing.  Please ensure you check your timetable weekly for any updates. 

Ensembles/Orchestras

We are very excited to announce that the Ensembles and Orchestras will start rehearsing next week.  The Ensemble timetable will be on MazCom.  If you’re not sure what group you are part of, please speak with your instrumental teacher.

Signing In/Out for Instrumental Lessons

Please remind your son(s) to sign in and out of the Founders’ Complex (using their ID Cards), when they come for a lesson.  2020 cards are still active.  We need to know where our students are in case of an emergency evacuation.  Our sign-in/out process helps us to locate students in these situations.
