Deputy Principal

Mrs Heidi Senior

Our new College Strategic Plan outlines the Values that have been identified by the College community as being central to our practice:

  • Community
  • Integrity
  • Justice
  • Kindness
  • Learning

We are committed to living these values according to our College motto, “By Deeds, Not Words Alone”. In reality this presents us with a challenge. It is one thing for us to say we value these concepts, it is another altogether to ensure our lived experience is true to them. In order to ensure our deeds are true to our values, we must develop our empathy and our self-control.

One of the key parts of my work, and the work of our teachers,  is supporting our boys on occasions where their deeds have not been true to our College values. We have rules and expectations in place to guide student behaviour, however this does not prevent boys making mistakes or making poor choices. In the moments when behaviour does not meet our values, our mission is to take these as opportunities to form these boys into good, gentle men. Like all learning, this formation takes time, persistence and practice.

What enables this work is attitude. When our boys and their families have a positive and cooperative attitude, working through poor choices and their consequence is far more effective and leads to far more positive outcomes. Unfortunately, there are times when attitude and mindset are negative or closed, and this can interrupt the resolution of the issue. I invite all of the boys and you, their families to consider and discuss this at home, and support our boys to understand what we value and how that should guide their behaviour.
