Year 9 Visual Art

This term, Year 9 students have been in the process of developing skills and confidence in drawing the face. They have started by learning pencil shading techniques to render form. Some amazing results are already emerging and I am delighted to report that every student has shown a marked improvement in their skills of observation, and recording of form.

Year 10 Visual Communication and Design

Year 10 have been exploring their knowledge and manipulation of the elements, and principles of design to create effective visual communications. They have also been developing skills in the use of media to create design options that best satisfy the brief. Watercolour, soft pastel and Copic markers are some examples of media that students used on their concepts. This group are really showing some amazing talent. Perhaps we have a few future illustrators in our midst.

Year 11 Visual Communication Design

Students are very busy learning about different drawing methods used in the various design fields covered in the course. In Term 1, the focus is presentation drawing skills. Students are required to use instruments and drawing boards to create technical drawings that have the purpose in depicting, and providing information about a product. Final presentations included a full dimensioned scaled drawing of a reimagined sharpener for Hasbro.
