The 25th of March marked the 200th Anniversary of Hellenic Independence and the Feast of the Annunciation of the Holy Virgin Mary - Ευαγγελισμός της Θεοτόκου.

Our students attended various services in Melbourne, and our Byzantine Choir chanted vividly and devoutly at our Parish of Sts Anargiri.

The services at Sts Anargiri and St Eustathios were brightened by our flag bearers who attended with pride and honour.

God bless our students of Oakleigh Grammar!

Well done to the students who participated!

Our students of Middle and Senior School attended a church service of the Salutations to the Theotokos.

On Sunday 4th of April, we commemorate Sunday of the Holy Cross.

With the help of God, we have almost reached the middle of the course of the Fast, where our strength has been worn down through abstinence, and the full difficulty of the labour set before us becomes apparent. Therefore our Holy Mother, the Church of Christ, now brings to our help the all-holy Cross, the joy of the world, the strength of the faithful, the staff of the just, and the hope of sinners, so that by venerating it reverently, we might receive strength and grace to complete the divine struggle of the Fast.

Apolytikion - First Mode

Lord, save Your people and bless Your inheritance, granting our rulers to prevail over adversaries, and protecting Your commonwealth by Your Cross.

Prayer from Presanctified Liturgy

Almighty Lord, You have created all things in wisdom. In Your inexpressible providence and great goodness, You have brought us to these saving days, for the cleansing of our souls and bodies, for control of our passions, in the hope of the Resurrection. After the forty days, You delivered into the hands of Your servant Moses the tablets of the law in characters divinely traced. Enable us also, O benevolent One, to fight the good fight, to complete the course of the fast, to keep the faith inviolate, to crush underfoot the heads of unseen tempters, to emerge victors over sin and to come, without reproach, to the worship of Your Holy Resurrection. For blessed and glorified is Your most honourable and majestic name, of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forevermore.

Happy Easter to those who are celebrating this weekend and for all Orthodox Christians we are halfway through Great Lent, may the Lord give you all strength for the continuation of the course of the fast and journey to Pascha.
