Principal's Report
Mr. Corey Jewell
I had the pleasure of attending the Year 7 camp on Friday the 26th of February. It was a great day with all of the students attending telling me of their highlights over the 3 days. I had the pleasure of watching all of the groups involved in a variety of activities that included the flying fox, high ropes, rock climbing/abseiling, Archery and the obstacle course. The feedback from the camp staff and Lalor Secondary College staff was extremely positive and the school could not be prouder of the students who attended this camp. A big thank you to all of the staff who attended the camp and to Josh Simpson for the facilitating the 3 day experience.

A huge thank you to the staff and students who attended Athletics last Friday. It was a great day with many students testing their athletic capabilities against each other. The Year 12 students were amazing and showed the rest of the school how to act as Lalor Secondary College students. I thank the Physical Education faculty for all of their hard work and preparation in delivering this day to our school community.

On Monday the 1st of March the parents of our Year 7 students were invited to come and meet the Year 7 teachers of Lalor Secondary College. The attendance at the evening was amazing with over 120 families attending. The evening was an opportunity for our newest students and parents to chat with their teachers and ask any questions they have about the beginning of the school year and the challenges that lay ahead. A big thank you to the Lalor Secondary College school staff who volunteered their time to be a part of this event.
The parent teacher conferences will run on two separate days in 2021. The first day will be Wednesday the 24th of March which will be online conferences held via Microsoft Teams. These interviews will run form 9.15am and conclude at 4.15pm with several breaks for staff scheduled throughout the day.
The second day of conferences will be held on Wednesday the 31st of March. These will be held on site as face to face conferences for those families that would like to attend and speak to their child’s teachers in person.
Families will only be able to book one appointment time over the two days with their child’s teachers so will need to choose between the online or face to face formats. The booking system for the conferences will be opened on soon on Compass, and I encourage all parents to attend, especially the Year 12 parents of 2021 as this is an early opportunity to understand the demands being placed on your child so you can support them through the year. An SMS notification will sent to inform parents of when the booking system will open.
.
Monday the 8th of March was International Women’s Day. The 2021 message is #ChooseToChallenge. A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. So let's all choose to challenge. How will you help forge a gender equal world? Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality. Spend this week discussing those points with people in your local community and ensure the issue of Women’s rights are at forefront of everyone’s minds this week.
