School Council Update

Whether organising the School Fair, turning a sausage on the bush-dance BBQ, participating in the Working Bee, providing maintenance advice, or on School Council committees, our school Community has been established through the strength of its volunteers.

As you look around our school, our volunteers have helped petition for grants that delivered the all-abilities playspace, run morning teas and have success in fundraising that has delivered huge benefits to the school and our children over the years. Our Science building, the landscaping in the Organ Factory, the new prep courtyard and access, multi-media and screens in the multi-purpose room and essential maintenance for our heritage listed buildings all stemmed from active participation in our school from our parents.

After a highly disruptive year, our School Council has started to look at how we can recommence many of the much-loved / highly valued activities on our school social calendar, including the main event of the year - our School Fair, which raises over $80k for the school. What is evident is that we need volunteers or to re-evaluate what we can do this year.

So my update from the School Council is a simple one, but a big ask. We're asking for your help and calling for volunteers to help shape how we approach our year of fundraising and community engagement in 2021 – as a way of bringing our school community back together and getting to know the new members of the school community,

Shortly via Compass we will be announcing a School Community engagement event to discuss ideas on how to run our social, community and fundraising program for the year. This will be held at school and will be open to parents who have ideas, can help a little, or would love to help a lot -  we really want to see you there.

If you already know you want to volunteer then feel free to get in touch. Our School Council members and I are happy to chat and answer any questions or concerns around the time requirements, which can be as little as a couple of hours a month or a couple of hours at an event.

We look forward to your help,

Kind regards,

Brian
